31tools.com is now open

Cybozu Labs, Inc. opened 31tools.com website, where Cybozu Labs publicizes its research and development efforts to the web. We plan to provide application software, and libraries.

And also we publicized two libraries as the first software.

You may use the software under their license agreements.

CBL Partial Updater Released

CBL Partial Updater is now available for download. CBL Partial Updater is an Ajax library for PHP. Unlike other libraries, all operations are controlled by the server side. Using the library, it is very easy to add AJAX features to existing PHP applications.

Research position at Cybozu Labs offered to the pioneer of Palmscape, Mr. Kazuho Oku

On August 16, 2005 (Tuesday), Cybozu Labs, Inc. (hereafter, Cybozu Labs) (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Mr. Shinya Hata) welcomed Mr. Kazuho Oku to its staff. Mr. Oku is internationally renowned for his many achievements in software development, such as Palmscape, a Web browser for use with the Palm OS. Cybozu Labs undertakes the research and development of software that promotes information sharing for use all over the world, and hope to make further advances in this field with the aid of Mr. Oku.

The work of Mr. Oku is highly acclaimed outside of Japan, and he was the only Japanese engineer selected in the top 100 young innovators (TR100) by Technology Review, a magazine designed for technology professionals published by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for his work in 1997 developing Palmscape, a Web browser for use with the Palm OS. Also receiving rave reviews in Japan, Mr. Oku was named a “genius programmer and super creator” in May 2005 by the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) in its 2004 1st New Software Development Project for his work in developing integrated development environments for Web applications (Apache/Perl)

Establishment of Cybozu Labs, Inc. in August 2005

Cybozu, Inc. (hereafter, Cybozu) (headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Mr. Yoshihisa Aono) established Cybozu Labs, Inc. (hereafter, Cybozu Labs) as a specialist research and development subsidiary in August 2005. Cybozu Labs pursues new technologies in its role as a research laboratory for Cybozu, providing software that promotes information sharing around the world.

To date, Cybozu has developed and released a variety of easy-to-use business software applications. In order to realize these, the company has had to develop a variety of superior technologies, including CyDE2*, a development framework. To concentrate on growth on a worldwide scale in the future, Cybozu established Cybozu Labs to specialize in research and development activities. At Cybozu Labs, we pursue new technologies with a mid- to long-term goal of developing software that promotes information sharing. In addition, Cybozu Labs aims to develop software that will become the world standard, as well as provide Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) on a global scale under certain delivery conditions.
